Well here we are again, 2 storms in 1 week! Hauled out 1 power boat for Hurricane Danny and left the sailboat on it's mooring since it's only a 22 footer and it is hanging on a block of cement the size of a truck. Danny fizzled out but we are still going to see 50+ mph winds here in Chatham this afternoon. But I am not complaining...Thanks for the good luck!

Like seeing the maybe in maybe some winds gusting to just above tropical storm force. When a hurricane of this size is heading your way and you have 2 boats in the water, the more information the merrier. At the moment 8/22 AM I will be leaving the boats on their moorings in Chatham, MA but tropical storm force winds are extending out for 275 miles so I will be putting on some extra tie downs. Not having to haul out left me some extra time yesterday to reminisce about riding out Hurricane Hugo on a 59' Trimaran in Culebra, PR http://wp.me/pb0Ok-28

The forecast models continue to pose some troubling scenarios farther down the road. We'll keep an eye on the forecasts for you.

Felica will arrive mostly likely as a tropical depression sometime late today or early tomorrow morning (hst). There is very little convection left with it at this time.

Satellite imagery shows a dwindling tropical disturbance in the tropical Atlantic. It was impressive 24-36 hours ago. Looks like the models had the right idea, but kept the system too strong too far west. Great news for the Caribbean and Bermuda.

Models have jumped around some......First recurving east of the Islands, then farther east, then into the Islands, now recurving east of the Islands. This is why we don't trust long range forecasts - too much uncertainty. Models are still convinced the first storm of the season will develop during this next week, but unsure of direction.

The latest models continue to develop a low off of the African coast. This time however, a weakeness in the suptropical high allow for the low to recurve much faster. This simply means that the new models are taking the low northward much farther east than yesterday's forecast. :)
